They gave me ECT, or shock therapy. The problem is that as a side effect, I lost two years of memories. I don't remember going to Las Encinas at all, except for a collection of strange flashes and a name or two. Thank goodness I'm a diarist, so I could backfill in some of the memories, albeit with mere two-dimensional prose, grey gossamer sentences which fall apart like so much spidersilk when given the fiery spotlight of attempted, desperate recall. I don't even remember giving the go ahead to Dr. Haraszti for the ECT-- I'm assuming this came from my mother, but I can't ask her, because she hanged herself a few years after I suffered through the treatment. Talk about a dead end. I really wish the hospital would have reached out and provided some aftercare for a procedure which continues to have repercussions decades after it was practiced upon me. Ah well!

Before being admitted I read all of these reviews and I was scared to go. The hospital isn’t as bad as the reviews make it out to be so I figured I’d put in my two cents. Most of the staff were compassionate and helpful. Some of the food was actually good but overall the meals were subpar. The grounds are very beautiful actually. The building is over 100 years old and rich with history. I felt safe there and got the help I needed.

This hospital provided me with the help I needed. The staff are hard workers and the overall experience was a positive one.

Had a great experience here. Most importantly, the staff was very friendly and took time to discuss my visit in great detail. The facility was also comfortable and clean. It was refreshing to have such an easy experience at an urgent care center.

Great Staff! Had fun with Amira Duffy, especially when she 1st was released from 5150 to my wing. If anyone can reach Tyler, give him my apologies.

If you're brought in on a 5150 you'll stay in a rather dour side wing of the facility for a mandatory 3-day stay. It can be a terrible place to be. But after that, you will be invited to stay on a different wing, which is spacious, heavenly, with room to walk outside and inside. Freedom to roam the building, large rooms, a nicer staff seems to work there as well. I resisted being taken to this place as a 5150 but soon as I transferred to the nicer wing, there was less tension, more friendly attitudes and great food in the cafe. One big contention is that both wings will let people smoke during appropriate times but the 5150 wing won't let you have caffeine. The 2nd wing lets you have both.
